Celebrating the Season: cymbidiums & tulips!

The earth laughs in flowers!

 Cymbidium Orchids

In season all winter,  the “queen” of flowers is blooming while the rest of the garden is a muddy cold place! The Cymbidium Orchid has to be one of the finest flowers available. Not only is a stem of this sturdy flower large, it also will last almost a full month as a cut flower!

The Cymbidium comes in lots of beautiful colors and looks great by itself in a vase or plays well with others. We are fortunate to have a local farm right here in Humboldt County to supply us with these beauties. We love sharing  American grown flowers with you!

Be sure  to stop by the flower shop and treat yourself to some of these beauties.

Tulips

January also begins the Tulip season, which lasts until the weather turns warm.

We  are able to find these also from a local farm here in Humboldt County. We love being able to carry local grown California flowers. The Slow Flowers movement is gaining steam as more people want to know the origins of their food and flowers.

The varieties available are outstanding!

Did you know Tulips will grow even after you bring them home? They are phototropic, or growing towards the sun. They will follow the light with their pretty faces and strech almost 6 inches taller! Pretty fun to watch these dancing on your table.
